Schedule: A final schedule will be provided to you at registration. Dorm check-in begins in the afternoon on Sunday, July 22. Registration will for all campers will follow dinner. During the week, the workshop will run from 8:30am until 5:00pm each day, July 23 – July 27. There will be a lunch break from 12:00 until 1:30. The building is open by 7:00am if you need to be dropped off early (though no staff will be present). We will wait with all students until everyone is picked up each day. Dorm check-out must occur by noon, July 28.

Location: 232 Elliott Hall is the main classroom for the workshop (ask if you need directions to the campus or the building). We have access to several other classrooms and computer labs in the building and across campus. If you need to get a message to a camper during the day, please contact the Elliott School of Communication at 978-3185.

Meals: On-campus participants will have access to every meal beginning with dinner on the 22nd through breakfast on the 28th. Commuters are on their own for lunch. The cafeteria allows walk-ins with cash payment. The Rhatigan Student Center has several food options, including fresh sandwiches, Pizza Hut, salad bar, and Chick-fil-A. A McDonald is located only a few blocks from campus. Other fast food is available approximately two miles from campus.

Laptop: You can bring a laptop to the camp. We will lock the rooms during lunch for security. If you would like to access the WSU wireless network, please send the MAC address of your wireless card to us in advance. Please ask if you do not know how this is done. We are happy to help.

Library Card: Students are not required to have a WSU Library Card. However, all residents of the State of Kansas are entitled to use the library for free and may choose to purchase an ID card which allows check-out privileges. Time will be made available during the workshop for students to purchase the ID card. You will need to bring two forms of ID. One must have your social security number and another must have your current address and a picture. The card is free, but costs $10 for a replacement. You are entitled to check out up to four books with the card.

Photocopying: Students will be taught to research using the WSU library and electronic resources available on the campus. In the course of the instruction, some photocopying and printing will be required. The workshop has made arrangements for these expenses to be paid through your camp fees. Additional money for these expenses will not be necessary. In addition, the workshop will be responsible for copying and distributing research to all participants. All students will be provided with a copy of all original research completed during the workshop. Also, the workshop will provide students with a preliminary set of affirmative and negative briefs at registration.

Materials: All participants should bring typical materials for the debate camp including file folders, pens, paper, flow paper, scissors, tape and a highlighter. You may also want to bring an expandable file folder, or a small file pocket to hold the folders. You do not need to bring big evidence storage boxes or any other files. The vast majority of the evidence will be compiled and distributed electronically. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Final Payment: The fee for this year’s workshop is $25, plus housing (if applicable). Dorm payments must be made by July 1. Workshop fees must be paid before the start of the workshop. You can pay the balance on online. If you prefer, checks can be used and should be made out to WSU Debate.
